In 2022, I interned with the UNCW Academic Advising Council to redesign their asynchronous training course for academic advisors. After a deep discovery process with SMEs, advising leaders, and advisors, my redesign closed gaps in instruction based on a task analysis, incorporated assessments, and aligned existing (and new) content with instructional design best practices, multimedia principles, and accessibility standards. The new LMS-based course prioritized functionality, ease of use and evergreen content for the client, and self-directed learning. I created a style and maintenance guide, led a pilot as formative assessment, and developed pre- and post-course surveys to help the AAC make decisions about future iterations.

The completion of the training represents the fulfillment of the goal to offer formal training as an option for 100% of advisors at UNCW, with more than 100 users already enrolled in the course and potential for dozens more to utilize the training.
